October 2011. Philippines. As the plane gradually moves up to the air to take me to my home province, I looked down and saw this entire picture of the huge metropolis. From atop, I saw chains of buildings that indicate progress and booming businesses. But, down the other side of the road, I saw the opposite.

Then, I felt down.

Ten Basic Steps to Stay Young

Tags

, , ,

When I opened my Facebook this morning, this very interesting post of a friend greeted me and took some minutes of my time to read it. She listed ten simple, relevant and expense-free  ways of staying young. Very interesting, indeed! I thought it’s worth sharing here in my blog and so I asked her permission to let me share those tips. Fortunately, she gave me a go signal and here it goes.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay ‘them’

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

So, who needs the fountain of youth when we can have these basic and simple steps to stay young and happy?

Thank you very much Ate Nancy Notoy Guigue for allowing me to share these thoughts with the world.

Basic Guidelines in Choosing Curtain Color

I was overwhelmed with the response when I posted last week which color should I pick when I will buy a new curtain. Those suggestions really guided me in identifying the best choice for my room.

The common color of my room is blue. When I moved in October of 2010, the landlord had already provided me with blue curtains and blue sofa so I had no other choice but to follow the color theme. I bought a blue bed sheet and other stuffs in blue. Lately, I just got tired of seeing the same color in my room so I had to think of something new to break the monotony. From last week’s post, I received really good feed backs that guided me of my choice. Here’s the top ten suggestions that I gathered in choosing a color for your curtains:

1. Peach or floral curtains for a garden look.

2. Black curtains for low maintenance that is not having to wash it all the time.

3. Purple, to go with the color of the season.

4. Choose your favorite color for your curtains.

5. The color of your curtains should compliment the color of your wall paper.

6. Green and blue for a fresh look of your room.

7. Consider the color of your bedsheet when you pick a color of your curtains.

8. Black and white curtains for a darker effect.

9. White with shades of green and purple if you are into neat, dust-free and fresher effect of the room.

10. White for a sleek and clean effect of the room.

Christia of Cristia’s World wrote: “White and satin brown always works. Combine them this way: satin brown curtain, white see through curtain, white see through curtain, satin brown curtain.”

With that in mind, I went to Home Pro to get what I wanted. When I went there I had a wide array of choices. But of course, I had to consider my budget. It was such a good thing that I found what I really wanted – a brown curtain with some light blue stripes at the bottom. I thought it was perfect.

On my way out of the shop, I passed by the home and office furniture department and my eyes caught a sight of this very nice corner cabinet. Then I imagined my photo frames in it at the corner of my little room. Now, I am up for my next room project – the corner cabinet.

How about you? Any plans or project for your room lately?

When loving someone, never regret what you do,

only regret what you didn’t do.

One more day and Valentines Day is here again. So what’s the big fuss about it?

It’s a LOVE day. Whatever your status is – Married; Engaged; In a relationship; Single; It’s Complicated; Never mind, let’s make tomorrow a big day for LOVE. Why?  Because V Day is not only for couples or for those who have special someone, it can be for friends and family, too.

So, how do you send your BIG LOVE to those whom you cared for? I listed 10 simple ways to let them know how special they are to you.

1. Shout it in Facebook

According to Wikipedia, there are 845 million active users in Facebook as of December 2011. So if you want your beloved to feel extraordinarily special, shout to the whole 845 million people how you love your family, friends, and lovers as well.

2. Say it with a Valentines Card

Wait, isn’t it that card is already a thing of the past? Exactly. But send one anyway. Greeting cards over the net has been so common and is just a click away. So try a little effort. Write what you exactly feel in the card with your own penmanship. It doesn’t matter what language you will use. Just say what your heart contains.

3. Say it in a Song

There’s nothing can be so sweet than being serenaded by someone you love. Sing your song for him/her. Sing it with passion and emotion.

4. Say it with Flowers

Isn’t it that flowers are our main expression of love? If you are usually doing it with bouquet? Why not try to give just a single piece now not because flowers are too expensive at this time of the year but for the special effect of it. Or if you are used to give her/him one, why not try hundreds of them – that if your pocket can carry the load.

5. Dance with Him/her

You simply invite him/her over dinner, drink some wine perhaps. Then, play his/her most favorite love song then grab him/her and dance. Take it slow.

6. Say it with Chocolates

This may be a little too common. The usual present during Valentines day, but who cares, she might be expecting to receive one from you.

7. Take Him/Her to Witness the Sunrise or the Sunset

Choose the best spot where you both can have a perfect view of this majestic scenery. This can be a perfect way to say “I love You”.

8. Prepare Breakfast for Mom and Dad

Surprise mom and dad in a special breakfast in bed. With this, you will perfectly start their day right.

9. Say it in a Tight hug

Love is best expressed in a sincere hug. Hug your friends, your parents, your children as you say Happy V Day to them.

10. Say the Words

Sometimes, we don’t say it to those people we love because we feel too awkward about it. Then, tomorrow is the perfect time to start saying it. Tell your loved ones that you love them. Say the words. Tell them – “I Love You”.

There are other ways to say “I love You” that won’t cost you a penny. Just say it, express it in the way you think you can. Do it, express it – straight from the heart.

Have you got other ways? Share them now.
